This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use our Vedic astrology platform, including all features such as birth-chart generation, dasha timelines, transit analysis, and AI-powered chart consultation.

By accessing or using Jaaniye you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue use of our services.

Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories:

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as financial account numbers, government identification numbers, or medical records.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Service delivery: Generating accurate sidereal birth charts, dasha timelines, varga charts, transit analyses, and Panchang data using Swiss Ephemeris.
• Authentication & security: Verifying your identity, maintaining session integrity, and preventing fraudulent access.
• Personalisation: Saving your chart preferences, language settings, Favs, categories, notes, and calculation groups so you can pick up where you left off.
• AI chart consultation: Passing your computed chart data (not your raw personal details) to our AI layer to answer your astrological questions.
• Service improvement: Analysing aggregated, de-identified usage patterns to improve accuracy, performance, and new features.
• Communications: Sending transactional emails (password reset, credit purchase receipts). We do not send unsolicited marketing emails without your explicit consent.
• Legal compliance: Meeting applicable law, responding to lawful requests, and enforcing our Terms of Service.

Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Trusted vendors who help us operate (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processors, email delivery) under strict data-processing agreements that prohibit them from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.
• AI / LLM providers: When you use the "Ask Jaaniye" feature, computed chart data (not your name or email) is sent to a large-language-model provider to generate responses. This data is transmitted under a confidential API agreement and is not used to train external models.
• Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Jaaniye, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may transfer to the successor entity, which will be bound by this Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

• Account data is retained until you delete your account.
• Favs, categories, notes, and calculation groups are retained until you delete them or delete your account.
• Search history is retained for 12 months, after which it is automatically purged.
• AI conversation transcripts are not stored beyond your active session unless you explicitly save a chart result.
• Anonymised usage analytics may be retained indefinitely in aggregated form that cannot identify you.

Upon account deletion, all personally identifiable data is permanently erased within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Security Safeguards

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure:

• Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher.
• Passwords are never stored in plain text; authentication is handled via Google OAuth 2.0 or salted-hash credentials.
• Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel on a strict need-to-know basis.
• CSRF protection is enforced on all state-changing requests in the web application.
• Our infrastructure is regularly audited for security vulnerabilities.

Children's Privacy

Jaaniye is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take immediate steps to delete it.

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:
